Artistry: Global Art of Mixing

25th July

Hennessy Artistry is a famed global music campaign to promote the art of mixing various genres and blending the talents of the world’s top artists. Every trademark Hennessy Artistry event is an evening of pure unification; mixing sound, visual innovation and drinking experiences from around the world.

Translation: Great music + free flow of alcohol + beautiful ladies = One smashing night!!

Got a confirmation at the very last minute that i was on the guest list for the event held at the Bukit Kiara Indoor Arena.

Before the doors opened, took some shots of the beautiful ladies stationed at the photo op stands..

Local act One Buck Short making their entrance..

Once the doors opened, made my way into the arena. The Experience Zone sets the mood for what's in store for the night...

I'm not exactly sure what these 2 girls were doing... acting as DJ?

And of course...the lovely Hennessy girls..

And of course.. something for your tastebuds..

The main arena awaits after exiting the Experience Zone. It was just like one huge massive dance club..

Early entertainment was provided by DJ Milinka with some house beats..

Local act One Buck Short kicked off the show with an amazing performance..

They were later joined on stage with Taiwanese hip-hop group Homies..

After the Homies performed several songs, Dominique Tsai from Taiwan took over with her sexy dance moves..

DJ Camilo from New York took over the deck spinning a mix of old and new during the interval..

The next act was the big guy himself, Fatman Scoop. His loud, rough voice coupled with his stage presence was just amazing. This dude really knows how to work the crowds..

He was later joined by Dominique for his hit song "Put Ya Hands Up"..

Fatman can dance..

Next up were the Yin Yang Twins...

Half the time I couldn't make out what they were singing but the crowd looked happy enough..

She definitely looked like she's having a great time..

Towards the end of the show, Fatman Scoop took the lead and brought all the performers back out for their verison of Black Eyed Peas "Boom Boom Pow"..

The show comes to an end..

Overall it was a great event. The free flow of Hennessy didn't hurt either...

On a side note, there's a saying "People give money, you give your life". Just becuase it's free, there's no need to go overboard with alchohol. On my way out to get my car, I saw 1 guy puking by a tree, a guy trying to help a girl stand up, 2 guys trying desparetly to calm down their drunk friend who was shouting, cursing and almost coming to blow with each other. All this while the drunk guy's girlfriend watched helplessly. To top it off, there was a Myvi turned turtle at the exit ramp towards Damansara.

Party Girls '09

24th July

Nightspots used to be the place where you go dance and just get drunk. Nowadays, the players have pushed it up a notch. Taking a cue from the Reality TV trend, clubs are now organizing their own model search, beauty pageant, talent contest etc etc.

MardiGras Bistro in One Utama took it one step further by organizing the Party Girls '09. This is not a run of the mill contest where the prettiest girl wins. The 5 winners must know how to PARTY!!! Judging from what was shown during the preview event, these girls know how to party just fine...

For more info on this event, visit http://mardigras.com.my/

Calm before the storm..

Before the event start, there were free flow of beer and lot's of finger food to keep you occupied. And of course, great music..

Minutes before the event kicked off, the girls came out from their changing room..

I wonder what are they looking at??

Ohhhhh....

What do party girls do best? Set fire to the dance floor of coz!!!!

The song "Just Dance" by Lady Gaga kept playing in my mind..

End of the preview show...

After the dance show ended, it was supposed to be a wrap but the girls obliged us with another round of photoshoot..

1st heat starts on 14th August.

Sunday morning model shoot

18th July

Name: Sin Yee
Location: Kota Kemuning park

I was invited to join a private photo session that took placed on Sunday. As there were several other photographers around and only 1 model, i knew that all of us would end up with almost similar shots. As such, i tried overexposing all my shots and re-touch them later in Lightroom.

My aim was to capture the model at her casual and natural moments while post-processing will be used to obtained some moody feel and look.

The following shoots were taken when the model was not expecting it. I prefer some natural reactions rather than a forced pose.

Some other shoots from the morning..

Finally, some B&W attempt..

33rd Bon Odori

17th July

The 33rd Bon Odori was held on the 17th at Panasonic Sports Complex. Organized by the Japan Club of Kuala Lumpur, the Japanese School of Kuala Lumpur and the Embassy of Japan. In Japan, Bon Odori is celebrated as a reminder of the gratefulness one should feel toward one's ancestors.

In Malaysia, Bon Odori Festival is celebrated every year in a much smaller scale and is less associated with Buddhism and more w1ith Japanese culture. Held mainly to expose locals to a part of Japanese culture, the festival provides the experience of a variety of Japanese food & drinks, art and dance.

A lot of people, both foreign and local, attend this festival every year. What you can expect is a carnival like atmosphere, Japanese food and drink and lot's of people wearing the kimono and other Japanese costume.

On the center of the field, is a large platform where the dancers and drummers performed their traditional dances. Down at the field, the spectators will join in the fun by dancing along with the performers.

Slow shutter attempt at the venue.

While the event itself was great, the surrounding elements was less than desirable. Dusty field, lack of parking space and overcrowding marred an otherwise enjoyable night.
